THERE GOES THE SUN:
THE LAST TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE OF THE MILLENIUM
Dave Leavitt, speaker
During the Dark Ages an understanding of eclipses was not common
knowledge. We now understand the mechanics of solar eclipses. Does
knowing how something works diminish its beauty and mystery? Or is the
beauty of the world deepened by understanding the things we see?
Dave and Judy Leavitt viewed the total solar eclipse near Stuttgart,
Germany, August 11, 1999. Dave, financial consultant and amateur
astronomer, will describe the awe-inspiring alignment of earth, moon, and
sun through photos and commentary.
Dave's presentation will be preceded by initiation of new members to the
society (nominated from the graduating classes of July and December 2000
and May 2001).
Refreshments will be served.
