A Reference Architecture
Here are demo implementations for each type of query:
- Type
1
The search term is used to find matching pages. Ranking is done
by
greatest number of occurrences of the search term to fewest number of
occurrences,
weighted by a factor of 10 for title occurrences and by a factor of 5
for
header 1-n occurrences. Displayed score should be the weighted
score.
- Type
2
The search term is used to find matching pages. Ranking is done
by
weighting the number of occurrences of the search term by the total
number
of terms (words) that were found in the page. Displayed score
should
be the weighted score.
- Type
3
The search term is used to find matching pages and pages linked to by
those
pages and pages linking to those pages. Ranking is done by adding
the inbound and outbound link counts for the identified pages within
the
pool of resulting pages (not the link counts that appear in the source
table), plus one for matching the page itself. Displayed score
should
be the total link count.
