Jan. 31: Your job search: Introduction; Internet resources. Class notes.
Feb. 7: Effective resumes. Class notes.
Feb. 14: Gerald Roe, Educational Placement Office, University of Iowa
Feb. 21: Portfolio design. Class notes.
Feb. 28: DreamWeaver demonstration; Information Arcade.
Mar. 7: Student resumes. Participants will be expected to bring in multiple copies of their resumes / CVs, for discussion by their colleagues.
(Mar. 14): Spring Break
Mar. 21: Mid-point review: no formal class, but students will meet individually with the professor to discuss their Practicum activities so far and to show preliminary versions of their reports, journals and web portfolios.
Mar. 28: Effective interviews. Class notes.
Apr. 4: Interview questions. Class notes.
Apr. 11: Mock job interviews
Apr. 18: Professional ethics. Class notes.
Apr. 25: Issue presentations / Discussion of practicum experience
May 2: (Final session): Issue presentations. Final class discussion and evaluation of Practicum; discussion of portfolios. Practicum report; Journal. The web portfolio must be posted to the Internet by the beginning of this class.
(May 9): Exam week: No exam. No meeting
in this week.
