REPORT
PRACTICUM
IN LIBRARIES
AND
INFORMATION CENTERS
Using your journal observations and reflections,
write a 4-6 page summary report on your
practicum experience.
This should be a thoughtful essay,
rather than merely a listing of the activities
in which you engaged.
The first part of your report should be
a
description and critique of your library
or organizational unit.
Summarize its role and services,
noting its organizational structure
and relationship to the parent organization.
Describe any recent or anticipated changes
in structure or services.
The remainder of the report should be a
reflection
on your practicum experience.
You may refer to specific activities or
projects,
but the emphasis should not be on what
you did
but on what you learned.
What insights did you gain?
How were your objectives and expectations
met in the experience?
Have your career goals become sharper?
Have they changed?
Please submit your journal with the practicum
report.
The report will be kept permanently in
the practicum file.
Report contents should be professional
in nature;
any possible confidential or controversial
content should be
communicated privately to the professor,
either verbally or in a private letter.
