Library-time Assignment

I chose a food-themed library-time with books geared towards older, family groups as opposed to a preschool groups.  To maintain the children’s interest I attempted to intersperse the shorter books with the longer, more complex books.  I would begin with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and then move on with Lunch, which is significantly shorter.  I would follow that with my non-fiction selection Ice Cream Cones For Sale.

At this point in the library-time, I would have my activity.  For this activity I would first read a book version of  On Top of Spaghetti and then sing the song with the children.  The version of the song I have found is a mimicking exercise so that the children can sing along easily even if they do not know the words.  The last book I would share is Stone Soup.  Finally, it would be cruel not to end a food-themed library-time without some kind of snack.  If possible, I would try to have healthier snacks, but sometimes in a pinch cookies are easiest.
