Read these articles on weblogs, and come prepared to discuss:
Invasion of the 'Blog': A Parallel Web of Personal Journals, David F. Gallagher, New York Times, 2000.12.28 (username: electronic, password: publishing). Staying Afloat on Weblogs, Jim Higgins, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 2000.07.14. Weblogs: A History and Perspective, Rebecca Blood, Rebecca's Pocket, 2000.09.07. |
Choose a course-related weblog to monitor throughout the summer, from the weblog page or from independent searching, and email me with its name and address (clint-wrede@uiowa.edu). Or, if you have no preference, I'll assign you one. |
Choose another weblog not on the list and not related to libraries or electronic publishing, but instead from one of the articles, from one of the weblog directories listed in the articles, from your own searching, or from previous knowledge. Without reading it beginning to end, become familiar enough with it to present it to the class in three minutes or less. Several students will be chosen to do so. |
