Class discussion is vital to this course.

The topics and sub-topics we'll be covering are broad and diverse. The value of the variety of backgrounds and experiences we each bring, both as consumers of information and as librarians- and information scientists-in-training, shouldn't be underestimated.

Each student needs to participate in the discussion regularly. As such, reading--and reading well--each session's assigned material is absolutely mandatory. Consider this a tradeoff for the absence of any exams or lengthy papers.

In addition, students will be asked to make a number of brief and informal "micro-presentations" to fellow class members. You will be asked to cover a small niche of a larger topic being discussed in class. These presentations will often be just a couple of minutes in length.
